Where it all began
In 2000, four musicians shared a vision to create the
most energetic, entertaining, and polished club act the
world has ever seen. When this scheme failed and the
members hocked their instruments and got real jobs,
four other musicians bought the other four musicians
instruments at Mick Shrimpton’s Guitar Bizaar on the
western-east side of South Sioux City Oregon.
Although they had no clear vision, (that’s a story yet to
be told) they knew they wanted to play rock-n-roll all
night and party everyday. “The Plaid Suit Band” was
born, and on a brief getaway to the Gateway to the
West, original bassist Jeff Peterson, and drummer Jeff
“Smitty” Smith discovered The Greater St. Louis area
had a lot of cool bars that sell beer and hire bands to
play. When female vocalist Doris Smalls and guitarist
Richard Binenya decided not to re-locate to the
Midwest, the search to fill their vacancies was on. As
fate would have it, Smith met the two head
groundskeepers at a local bocce ball club in early 2001
that turned out to be none other than guitarist/vocalist
Mike Bequette, and guitarist/vocalist Bruce Morrison.
The line up was complete and after a short lawsuit over
the rights to the name “ The Plaid Suit Band” the name
was changed to “Carry The Zero”. And in recent news,
bassist Jim Jones has taken over the low end duties due
to the fact that Mikes Chowintis had returned and he
bit off more than he could chew (See NEWS!)..The rest
is history and history in the making.
